GSDI Data Management Cookbook

The original document was written in 2000 as a collaboration of many data management professionals. It is written for a relative beginner in data management -- few assumptions are made about expertise.

The SDI Cookbook includes a lot of references to standards or approaches in place at the time (and most are still around). It may be a great starting point to the individual developer who needs to come up to speed on these topics.

Whether or not the Cookbook was ever a particularly complete reference, it certainly isn't very comprehensive at this point. But it reads well and reflects a lot of careful thinking about the material.

I have been wishing this document were more current ever since I saw it. An update of the metadata sections of the SDI Cookbook might be an excellent way to capture some of the critical material that MMI needs to convey to users.
