How can I help?

We would love to have your help with any of the following. Please contact the project at http://marinemetadata.org/contactus, or contact either of the project leads), if you have other ideas or want more information about helping with our work.

Become a member

The best way to show you care is to become a member, so that we can reach you if needed (we send out emails about once every 3 years, seriously) and we have an idea of your interest.

Social Media: Talk about us!

You can tweet about us using hashtag #marinemetadata, or blog about us. We have a group on LinkedIn you can join. And of course, linking to our site increases our page rank, so we like that too!

Contribute to the work

Contributing to what we're doing would be great. You can contribute to the web site itself, you can contribute vocabularies to our Ontology Registry and Repository (your own or reference ones), or you can help us maintain the code for the repository. Contributions to our web site can be simple references to other published work (use the 'search' feature to see if we already document it), new material providing guidance, or even your own experiences with metadata standards and developments. Editors of content are also welcome -- keeping the site current takes a lot of time, and you may notice pages that need improvement.

Visit our contributions page for instructions on contributing material to the site, or contact us to get involved.

Create or join a team

Most of MMI's teams are quiet now, but it's possible to create a new one or contribute to specific technical areas. Just contact us to get started.

Propose Your Own Role!

You probably have some good ideas or a particular contribution that we haven't thought of, and we'd love to hear from you! Please contact the project leads directly. Your efforts can help make marine metadata and marine science better.

Fund us or propose on our behalf!

Donations are welcome of course. Soon we hope to accept these online, for now you'll have to engage us personally!

We have typically been funded by grants from institutions that value our work. If you want to submit a grant proposal involving MMI (or just give us a grant!), please contact us. We will be happy to discuss your interests.

Thanks for your interest -- hope to hear from you soon!
