Workflow vs. Access

Visibility of content on the site is determined by a combination of two items:

  • Workflow State and
  • Accessibility

Workflow State determines the visibility of content being created or reviewed for publication. The workflow state is assigned automatically, or by the content creator/editor.

Accessibility determines the visibility of released content. That is, once content is released by the creator/editor, it is examined by a reviewer. This examination will result in publication of quality content. Visibility of this published content is determined by accessibility rules.

Note: The workflow state does not over-ride accessibility rules. For example, content assigned to a group will always be visible to group members, regardless of the workflow state.
