Action Item Notes

These are the action item notes as taken at the workshop.

Workshop to provide a common data model in UML to represent the data aspects of 1451, TransducerML, and SensorMl, to come to a concrete understanding of what these standards incorporate in their models, and attempt to represent it uniformly in UML.

ACT to work with MMI to take any outputs of the above and determine if there is a clear direction to proceed with manufacturers to offer their specifications in a standard way.

(MMI/Gerry Creager) create working examples of sensor descriptions (LDEO/TAMU/PDC/WHOI), with the goal of creating a registry (TAMU/SCOOP) of such descriptions.

MMI - should create a feature matrix of standards

MMI with ? - Need URIs for vocabularies. Come to an agreement on a URN or similar scheme that we can use in our community. (Most important vocabularies, sensor types, etc., enrolled in IANA, URN resolver, .) Consider how to incorporate wikipedia as "an authority".

Note any term in GCMD, CF, UCUM, AGU index terms, OGC parameters has a URN in MMI right now. Recommend that this service be continued as a community service.

Formal specification of requirement for a vocabulary resolver service. Steve H, Bob A, Luis B, Alex R

Identify terms specific to sensor domain and where such terms may already be defined, as well as where they need to developed; and how to incorporate more general terms that are not unique to sensors.

Consider how to create a community process for agreement on vocabularies. (Need to be endorsed and participated in by domain communities.)

Workshop strongly endorses funding for working out interoperability between various proposed standards. (From various directions and organizations.)
