Description

Functional Genomics Experiment (FuGE) - the Functional Genomics Experiment [Object Model / Markup-Language] (FuGE-OM, FuGE-ML) has been created to facilitate the development of data standards for functional genomics experiments. FuGE is a model of the shared components in different functional genomics domains. FuGE facilitates the development of data standards in functional genomics in two ways:

(From the web site) MEDI is an inventory of information about marine related datasets and is used within the framework of the IOC's International Oceanographic Data and Information Exchange (IODE) system. The MEDI system has been operational within the IODE community since 1979, initially as IOC Manuals and Guides.

The MEDI directory has been developed to provide a reference point for locating marine and coastal datasets and will be populated with metadata descriptions of marine datasets from IOC member states.

NcML: NetCDF XML

NcML is an XML representation of netCDF metadata. It is similar to the netCDF CDL (network Common data form Description Language), except that it uses XML syntax. An NcML file essentially contains the same header information one gets from a netCDF file with the "ncdump -h" command.
