SeaDataNet sample collector categories Terms used to describe groups of devices that collect water, suspended matter, sediment, rock, air or biota samples.
SeaDataNet sample processor categories Terms used to describe groups of devices that are used to modify water, suspended matter, sediment, rock, air or biota samples prior to analysis.
SeaDataNet sample analyser categories Terms used to describe groups of laboratory instruments that are used to analyse water, suspended matter, sediment, rock, air or biota samples.
SeaDataNet sensor and instrument package categories Terms used to describe groups of sensors or packages that make physical, chemical, biological or geological measurements in place in the field.
SeaDataNet remote sensor categories Terms used to describe groups of devices that take images of the environment or make measurements in the field with making contact with the measured entity.
The European Union has funded a significant multi-national, multi-system data management project called SeaDataNet. This 6-year project will provide metadata, data and products as a unique virtual data centre.
To support the requirements of SeaDataNet, the Technical Task Team is charged with developing software and capabilities according to standards, using SeaSearch work as a starting point. Two products of particular interest are a set of constructed and agreed vocabularies, and a server oriented toward managing vocabularies at the level of specific terms.
The vocabulary server is serving a number of vocabularies of sensors of various types.
