EU MarineXML Standards Report

A report produced by the EU MarineXML project documenting a wide range of formal and de facto standards that were considered relevant to the development of the MarineXML.

This document identifies relevant standards, emanating from both from marine applications as well as from outside the marine domain. About 50 standards have been proposed for inclusion in the study and thereafter analysed to decide whether and how they should be used in the MarineXML development. Of these standards, many were international de jure standards like S-57, GML (Geographic Mark-Up Language) and GeoTIFF, while other standards have smaller user groups but were included because they covered an important marine application domain or general concept that could be useful in multiple domains.

This is a useful review document that should be considered as a reference of references. There is a lot of information presented in a relatively short (44pp including appendices) document that is well worth a read.
