Getty Library Introduction to Metadata
An online publication devoted to metadata, its types and uses, and how it can improve access to digital resources.
This is an extremely well-written guide to the fundamentals of metadata. Although written in the context of a digital library, it perceptively illustrates the more complex aspects of the topic in a way that is entirely consistent with oceanographic and environmental uses.
