EcoMundus

An initiative to provide access to environmental data and information

Project Introduction

EcoMundus intends to bring about an infrastructure enabling access to international data and information resources.

Organized under the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), EcoMundus' mission is to catalyze the implementation of a coordinated mechanism to provide access to high quality environmental data and information that UNEP, other UN agencies, international and national institutions hold. Its implementation focuses on applying international standards and protocols to link metadata systems together, hereby creating a network of quality-assured content.

Partners

EcoMundus has developed a toolkit that supports participation of its partners, who include:

  • Ministerio do Meio Ambiente, Brasil (MMA),
  • Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO),
  • Coordination of Humanitarian Affaires (UNOCHA),
  • World Food Programme (WFP),
  • Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR),
  • United States Geological Survey (USGS/NBII), and
  • National Aeronautics And Space Administration (NASA/GCMD)
