Its entire architecture is developed using standards of the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) and ISO/TC 211 (ISO Technical Committee 211 -- Geographic Information/Geomatics). It is Free Software protected by the GNU Lesser General Public License (GNU LGPL).
