Main document

  • Overview of structure and outstanding issues
  • Competency questions: do we need them?

Review Action Items

Some of the Issues

  • Material: http://code.google.com/p/devont/issues/detail?id=23
    • This class has been mainly a placeholder. Device construction materials should probably come from an external ontology
    • Should we remove it and adjust the hasContructionMaterial so it has the range rdf:Resource (anything)?
    • Keep it as it is for the time being.
  • “intrinsic/data management” separation: http://code.google.com/p/devont/issues/detail?id=10
    • not easy to determine where the boundary is; under what criteria?
    • Most aspects will be dynamic (ie., as subject to change over time)
    • type/make/model may be a good set of instrinsic characteristics
    • One vision with DevOnt is that we focus on a core set of characteristics, not necessarily driven by device "models" as provided by typical manufactorers. But in the long run we do actually envision working with manufacturers so they may eventually incorporate DevOnt extensions along with their products.
    • SensorML: intrinsic properties in terms of inputs/output may be already supported by SensorML.  What exactly would still be required in terms of semantics? Need to clarify.
