Agenda
Topic 0: General Status
- Proposal practically submitted to NSF for SI2-SSI program. Great team, very good proposal, prospects a little murky.
- Work progresses
- Device ontology has been moving forward, and even bringing the platform ontology along. (Nice work, Carlos!)
- Guides team carrying on.
- Comments received on submission to Computing & Geosciences.
- Kris W keeping site alive, with input from a few of us. Tweets.
- We targeted June 30 release for Beta repository. (Any chance of that now?)
- Continued vocabulary submittals to the Ontology Registry and Repository (Thanks to Kris). Development of an IOOS Parameter Vocabulary V.1.0 based on SEACOOS Data Dictionary V.2.0, COARDS CF Standard Names, and input from the 11 IOOS Regional Associations and the NOAA IOOS Program Office. Will be submitted to the Repository in June.
- Moore Foundation discussion progressing, but not so quickly.
- Small increment possible from IOOS DMAC. (Money not in hand yet.)
- Little snapshots of progress: vocabularies and ontologies being noticed. OOI CI using some MMI reference documents.
- Continue to get indications that last proposal is still under consideration.
- Loping along toward what is hopefully not a finish line, merely a transition.
Topic 1: What's Next?
We are moving forward, and many opportunities have been pursued. Many more are 'out there'. So this question takes two forms:
- What do we want to keep pursuing?
Here's an interesting link from a while back to consider: What makes a good MMI activity?
- To whom do we want to apply for funding?
Up until now, perhaps we've been a little conservative in our funding and marketing efforts. Should we consider being a little more ... flamboyant?
Topic 2: Article(s) Needed
We have a lot of good assets, that need to be exposed to a wider audience. In particular, they need to be exposed in the journaled press, so that (at a minimum) we can cite them.
Case in point: The nice note from someone asking to reuse our vocabulary information. The Guides team has some nice citations for this sort of thing. Should the rest of the site? Would a small article be a big help here?
