July 4th—Independence Day
It's official.
The MMI project is no longer dependent on our original content management system, and is spreading its wings—and its capabilities—with a new underlying system, a new look and feel, and plenty of new information!
So, what's new on the site? Lots!
The site has a completely new look and feel. We've updated our layout, graphics, and our whole color scheme.
You'll notice new navigation menus to the left. These were developed based on community input, including extensive user testing performed by web developers at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute.
Our metadata Guides have been enlarged, reorganized, edited, and presented in a clean 'book' format. And now you can print a whole section of Guides with one click!
In addition to Community News, we have a new Featured Project, highlighted on the front page with links to the full writeup. This forum is ready for you to publicize your innovations in marine metadata interoperability.
You can now join "Open" Working Groups online, from the Community: Community Collaborations page.
With the new Drupal technology, anyone can add content to the site! As part of the migration, MMI has implemented a new workflow, establishing processes to review and edit submissions before they are released for public viewing. We want to be your most trusted source for environmental metadata information.
And this is just the beginning. As we continue to migrate over to this new website, we will be testing new functionality and enhancing the site. We encourage you to join, and explore the world of marine metadata interoperability with MMI!
