Global Earth Observing System of System (GEOSS) workshop to develop architecture requirements.

The Architecture Workshop aims to be an interactive event to develop requirements for GEOSS Architecture developments. The workshop will cover topics relating to the outcomes of the Architecture and Data Committee (ADC) core architecture tasks in 2007 and to develop plans for 2008. Participants will be invited to participate in the refinement of topics that will become part of a Call for Participation in 2008. Scenarios in the workshop are to emphasize needs of Societal Benefit Areas (SBA) to the service architecture in support of daily decision-support. The scenarios topics have been identified through collaboration of the GEO User Interface Committee (UIC) and ADC.

Breakout sessions will includes topics such as: SBA user scenarios, operational core components, sensor information infrastructure, and test facility to support service registration. The user scenarios are being developed in coordination with the User Interface Committee. Operational components will focus on refinement of the developments in 2007 along with the processes related to GEO Web Portal and Clearinghouse. Coordination with related GEO Tasks, e.g., for sensors, is encouraged and will be invited.

To prepare for productive sessions, we are seeking position papers (~1 to 3 pages) on the topics of the sessions. Send your position paper to George Percivall and it will be posted and linked to a Workshop Session or add a comment to a Session page and include a link to your paper.
