Show Ongoing Group Activity
Activities requested of team leads, to show group activity on the MMI Site
The pages within this section of the Site Help will guide you through the technical aspects of leading a team on the MMI site.
Terminology: MMI uses the term "team" to describe a collection of individuals working toward a common goal. We have implemented team working areas on the site as "Drupal groups." The terms "group" and "team" are used as synonyms.
The following activities are requested of all team leads, to establish a presence and show ongoing activity for your team.
- Modify the homepage of the group, to reflect current group information (Read more...)
- Classify all appropriate content with the appropriate group audience (Read more...)
- Classify all group content within to the Group Content Filing System (Read more...)
- Add a news item, to indicate when something of note happened, or is going to happen
- Add group members manually, or encourage community members to "join" (Read more...)
- Add a few "key links" to the homepage—these will appear on every page in the lower right hand box, and they help people navigate and get a sense of what's important. (Read more in the Key Links Section...)
- If appropriate, create "index pages" to your content, so group members aren't lost trying to find the content of interest. This is particularly important if you have multiple activities, or pages of interest for the group. You can also create "Pages" for the group, and display them as tabs. (Read more...)
- Consider asking us to set up a mailman account for this group, to create an email presence for the team.
- Create URL Paths as appropriate to reflect the URL locations in which the content will be stored. If you don't understand how we're using URL Paths, read our advanced help pages on navigation and URLs (http://marinemetadata.org/help/tech/navtaxonomy).
- Create some news that the community as a whole should know about, so it gets to the front of the MMI site and draws people to your pages.
