User Roles - Functionalities Explained

An explanation of functionality available to MMI Members by user role

Members are provided additional functionality as their role on the site increases. We utilize a variety of "User Roles" on the MMI site. The functionalities are additive - that is, you will will retain all functionality as your role increases.

This is the base functionality for every user.
No added functionailty.

Authenticated Member

 Add and edit content Register, using Create a new account

Authenticated Group Member

aka Group Member

 View, add and edit content specifically designed for a group Join a Group

Trusted

Make contributions public, without going through the review process Assigned by Project Manager to individuals who have been in the community for
a while, shown technical savvy and good sense, and can now help out
on various admin tasks

Reviewer

Move content to different states and edit a document submitted for review

Normally, this will involve scanning materials marked "needing review" and making them public or sending them back to the author(s) for revision

Assigned by Project Manager to individuals who have expertise in specific areas, and can adequately review content

Content Manager

Perform almost any action on a piece of content

Monitor and access all content on site (view/edit)

Administer certain modules that are key to content presentation

Assigned by Project Manager to individuals who take on a lead role in a specific project or group.

Site - Admin

Adjust site functions on a
site-wide basis, but may need content-manager role to perform some
actions

Administer most modules on the site and perform privilege operations on site

Functionality exceptions: content-type, workflow, and pathauto

Assigned by Project Manager to individuals who are involved in maintaining the MMI web community

Admin - Web Team

Enter tickets into the system

Login to the site if it is off-line

Assigned by Web Team Lead to individuals who are helping in the transition of the website from Plone
to Drupal and have access to a few key features that others do not.
This role may go away once the transition is complete

Site Architect

Make structural changes to the site

All privileges are available with the exception of "outline posts in books".

Analagous to a superuser on unix.

Assigned by Project Manager to individuals who are involved in organizing the MMI web community

Trashman

Delete content that has been marked "pending-delete" in the workflow.

Assigned by Project Manager to individuals who have expertise in specific areas, and can adequately delete content
