NERC DataGrid Vocabulary Server
The British Oceanographic Data Center (BODC) announced the launch of a new version of the NERC DataGrid (NDG) vocabulary server on December 3, 2007. The server provides access to almost 100 lists of standardised terms that cover a broad spectrum of disciplines of relevance to the oceanographic and wider community.
The NERC DataGrid (NDG) vocabulary server gives data managers access to lists of standardised terms that cover a broad spectrum of disciplines of relevance to the oceanographic and wider community, and helps solve the problem of ambiguities associated with data markup, enabling records to be interpreted by computers. This opens up data sets to many possibilities for computer aided manipulation, distribution and long term reuse.
