3rd NCAR Community Workshop on GIS in Weather, Climate and Impacts

10/27/2008 - 00:00
10/29/2008 - 23:59
The workshop will bring together leading researchers and practitioners from multiple disciplines to discuss visions, challenges, and research needs in spatial integration of information from social, atmospheric and related sciences.

NCAR GIS Initiative will be hosting 3rd community workshop on GIS in Weather, Climate and Impacts. The meeting will take place at the National Center for Atmospheric Research in Boulder, Colorado on October 27-29, 2008. The workshop will bring together leading researchers and practitioners from multiple disciplines to discuss visions, challenges, and research needs in spatial integration of information from social, atmospheric and related sciences.

The first two NCAR GIS workshops addressed integration of GIS with atmospheric data across scales, research directions for GIScience that are relevant for atmospheric applications, and spatial data management challenges. This workshop will review progress in AtmoGIS research, applications and data interoperability, and will add another dimension to the discussion: quantitative and qualitative social science data across scales.

The workshop will include presentations, panel and breakout group discussions, poster session and a reception. Optional GIS training course will be available (please see program for details).

All workshop participants must register on-line by October 10th, 2008.
