e-Biosphere 09 International Conference on Biodiversity Informatics

06/01/2009 - 00:00
06/03/2009 - 23:59
The conference will highlight the accomplishments, capabilities and uses of information resources that combine traditional taxonomy, cybertaxonomy and species data.

From the conference website:

"The e-Biosphere 09 International Conference on Biodiversity Informatics
will bring together an exceptional array of speakers and participants
to highlight the achievements in Biodiversity Informatics today and to
discuss strategies for its future. This conference presents a unique
opportunity for a wide range of professionals, researchers, and
students to come together to help plan the future of the field.

The Conference has been designed as a meeting-ground for researchers
and users of biodiversity data, such as: content providers in fields
such as taxonomy, genetics, and ecology; content aggregators;
policy-makers; developers of biodiversity databases, software, and data
standards; and users from diverse fields such as conservation, land
use, agriculture, and sustainable development. Computer scientists and
engineers interested in biodiversity informatics are encouraged to join
us and share their expertise and perspectives. Participants from public
research funding agencies, private foundations and donor organizations
are also welcome, as they will play a key role in determining the next
steps for biodiversity informatics."

This event is hosted by the Natural History Museum of London and sponsored in part by Encyclopedia of Life (EOL).
