ASLO-NABS 2010 Summer Meeting
Sponsored by the American Society of Limnology and Oceanography and the North American Benthological Society.
From the web site:
The 2010 ASLO/NABS meeting’s theme, Aquatic Sciences: Global Changes from the Center to the Edge, draws attention to the entirety of aquatic systems on which humans depend. Lakes and ponds have centers that respond to influences from the near shore and the watershed. Science too has centers of scholarship and associated interdisciplinary activities. This meeting will explore these and other centers and edges, encompassing and embracing the entire hydrological cycle and drawing strength from the synergy to be found between the North American Benthological Society (NABS) and the American Society of Limnology and Oceanography (ASLO).
In particular, note the session S32: EMERGING SCIENCE FROM AQUATIC SENSOR NETWORKS: ... The aim of this session is to highlight innovative science facilitated by the use of remotely-deployed aquatic sensors. We encourage participation by scientists utilizing these tools to present their findings from single systems, as well as analyses from networks of sensored systems, in an oral session. In particular, we will highlight discoveries and active research from the Global Lake Ecological Observatory Network (www.gleon.org), an international grassroots network of limnologists, ecologists, information technology experts, and engineers who have a common goal of building a scalable, persistent network of lake ecology observatories.
Abstract deadline: 12 February 2010
