Standard Vocabularies on MMI: Mapping and Watchdog Strategy

Description of a project to keep mappings of controlled vocabularies up to date.

This project seeks to reconcile the differences among standard vocabularies that are widely used by the marine community. To achieve this, there is a need to:

  • Uniquely identify each term via a URI
  • Express the vocabularies in a language that simplifies resolving the semantic heterogeneities
  • Express the mappings in machine readable format
  • Develop an interface and services to access the terms in the vocabularies as well as their mappings
