AOSN Task

The basic scope of the AOSN need was defined in an email from Jim Bellingham, PI: A question I have is the following: what are we trying to achieve with names? When Dorota, Francisco, and I discussed the difficulty in working with the AOSN data set some weeks ago, inconsistencies in names was a big issue. Dorota made a big list of the AOSN variables from the various platforms. It is an interesting exercise to sit down with a list from more than a dozen different types of platforms and try to make a naming convention that is both consistent and conveys the key information to someone new to the data set. The first is a lot easier than the second, and there are many degrees to the second.
