Workshop Theme: Building a common approach to managing and disseminating coastal data, maps and information.

  • goal: Provide an introduction and a hands-on tutorial for the creation and publishing of control vocabularies to achieve semantic interoperability among Coastal Atlases
  • duration: 2-3 days
  • date: July 16-20, 2007 (17th will be the vocabulary workshop)
    • number of participants : ~ 20
    • participants need:
      • a computer: running mac, pc or linux
      • an ontology editor tool
      • a mapping tool
      • internet connection to download the tool and the example vocabularies

    We need to prepare:

    • Power point of the content of the tutorial
    • Handouts
    • Prepare 2 vocabularies for the tutorial : possible layer or themes of the Irish and Oregon Coastal Atlas
    • Update VINE to support SKOS mappings
