webteam070201
Agenda
- Introductions (All)
- Web redesign update (Nan/Andy)
- Solicit feedback from webteam on "vocabularies and ontologies" and "content standards and profiles" architecture block diagrams to be distributed before the call. (Nan/Katherine)
- Consider proposal to form a "tools and projects" working group to help decide on the structure required to organize these 2 areas. (Nan/Katherine)
Participants
Nan Galbraith, Andy Maffei, Karen Stocks, Riley Young Morse, John Graybeal, Luis BermudezDiscussion and Issues
- Brief discussion of planned shared responsibilities for maintenance of new site.
- Building a wireframe of proposed site architecture; some major folders may need re-structuring. Trying to assess the many resources on the site and determine how to organize for the best user experience.
- Vocabularies/ontologies - vs - content standards/profiles
- Do any content standards exist without built-in vocabularies, or is this strictly a conceptual difference?
- Acknowledged need to map out the site so people can see what's there, not rely on search function. Visible organization helps members recognize the value of our collection.
- Guides team looking at this too: organization is important for that section too. The main site organizational scheme may be a little different from guides, but this is not a problem
- Tools and Projects folders
The tools folder contains a very long list, need to assess these to see the possible organization
The Projects folder - what are people looking for when they come to this folder?
Action Items
- list of content stds and vocabs to web folder
- Freemind diagram of site
- put survey results on site
Next Meeting
Wednesday Feb 8 1 PM EST

- review vocabularies and content standards
- review timeline for site development
