Some connections were made for ORION CI proposal (details once award is made). / MBARI is now a member of the Open Geospatial Consortium (enabling MBARI MMI members to join other MMI members already involved with OGC).
MMI followed its just-adopted collaboration approval process in consultations with multiple proposers on the ORION CI Implementing Organization proposal this month. Any resulting agreements will be announced once the award is announced.
MBARI has become a paid member of the Open Geospatial Consortium, allowing it full visibility into OGC activities, and participation in OGC development efforts. This clears the way for MBARI to be recognized as a contributor to the Marine Interoperability Experiment (to start soon), along with other MMI member institutions. (MMI can not join the OGC directly because it is not an independent financial organization.)
