OOSTethys - October 2008

Many members of the OOSTethys team demonstrated the data aggregator and visualizer at the Oceans Innovation Meeting in Canada, displaying more than 1000 platforms from more than 15 organizations..

The OOSTethys visualizer at OpenIOOS was demonstrated at the Oceans Innovation Meeting in Canada, displaying more than 1000 platforms from more than 15 organizations. The demonstration introduced a wide community of collaborators and audience members to the sophisticated real-time data displays available with standards such as SensorML.

Many other activities moved forward:

  • A proposed plan for the Ocean Science Interoperability Experiment Phase II has been made available at the OOSTethys site.
  • The Java cookbook was improved, and new releases based on it are available. (Next month there will be a new release of the Python cookbook.)
  • The OOSTethys site was upgraded to provide better information to typical visitors; more work is planned.
  • Collaborations with NOAA/IOOS continue to yield positive outcomes.
  • A plan was defined to advance sensor descriptions and SWE Common XML encodings. The latter will be proposed at the SWECommon OGC working group and adopted by OOSTethys and NOAA/IOOS.
