OOSTethys - January 2008

The Ocean Science Interoperability Experiment (OCEANS IE) Phase 1 is nearing its end. Cookbooks, documentations and main applications are being updated to conform to the recently published SOS 1.0 Schemas.

As the OCEANS IE part of the project concludes, documents summarizing the result are being written. Future OCEANS IE work will be discussed in the weekly telecons.

At present, we envision two complementary documents coming out in the next month or two. The first is slated to become an official OGC Best Practices document that includes results from the OCEANS IE. The second is an OOSTethys prospectus document that puts OOSTethys in context for a relatively broad set of stakeholders. The targeted audience for the latter would be similar to the reader of an O'Reilly book, and the document itself might become a version-controlled, constantly updated component of OOSTethys.org.

Key participants Philip Bogden, Gerry Creager, Luis Bermudez, and John Graybeal will continue to hold ad-hoc telecons as needed to ensure the work is continuing and effective.
