OOSTethys - August 2007

The August OGC newsletter declared the OOSTethys website the OGC website of the month. OGC has agreed to allow the Oceans Inteorperability Experiment to continue, and the final report is now scheduled for the end of the year. Technical improvements were made to the register services, with a semantic mediator with SPARQL interfaces now available, and client testing of WFS and SOS servers began. The OOSTethys group is reviewing key technical materials. For the Oceans IE the Mapserver WFS server will be enhanced to support time-series queries.

The register services were improved to provide needed content to the semantic mediator and to regularly update registered services listings.

The new semantic mediator with SPARQL interfaces includes semantics of the registered services, and mapping to the SeaDataNet platforms ontology.

The OOSTethys group is currently reviewing the SOS schemas that will become public in the next month. It is also reviewing the time series handling of WFS services at the NOAA CSC.
