Status of Action Items

  • [Carlos] Capture some of the facets in the ontology. {pending -- see 'how-to' item below}.
  • [Luis] Describe how the ontology can be used in OOSTethys. {done}
  • [Luis, John, Carlos] Build a 'how-to' that can be presented at the next telecon, illustrating how to take these terms and start working them into an ontology that meets the given use cases. [Done -- Carlos put together an  initial version of the proposed process here]

SWAMO: Sensor Web Autonomous Mission Ontology

Al Underbrink will present the Sensor Web for Autonomous Mission Operations. He has uploaded his presentation to the site.

Existing Related Ontologies

Luis Bermudez provided several ontologies related to the work we are doing; Carlos Rueda has reviewed these and will be presenting his observations.

Link: Related Ontologies.

The goal is to identify key elements from these ontologies (and SWAMO?) that need to be a part of the existing ontology. Discussion may also include elements that should be referenced by the existing ontology, but we do not want to spend too much time analyzing those external elements.

(As a process reminder: We previously agreed that the next step is to use the concepts captured in the Ordered Device Facets page, and put them into the device ontology as appropriate. Our strategy is to walk through this process in the (next) meeting, using a subset of those concepts, and give everyone an idea of how to build up the ontology. After that, we will ask the participants to each take some of the facets and decide (off-line) how they fit into the ontology, then bring those ideas back for discussion in the group. We will begin this part of the process next meeting, if we have an agreed core/framework ontology we can work with at that point.)

Process to Integrate Facets into Device Ontology

A proposed process to reflect the facets into the ontology is described here.

End Logistics: Next meeting, Action items, Attendees
