Review of Device Ontology instantiation exercises

  • From email: "If my modeling is reasonable, then maybe there are too many things in devont modeled as classes, requiring instance creation where property assertions would be more reasonable [...] We will almost certainly come clearly to a list of what controlled vocabularies are needed. Or at least we will see them for the things commonly used sensors measure, and how their operational restrictions constrain them. In fact the need will scream in our face when we have to do things like name a frequency Hz_5 instead of having a datatype property named frequency."

• MeasurementCapabilities: issue of having to create instances for every value. Better use datatype properties along with some controlled vocabularies? Perhaps use a datatype property "hasMeasurementCapability" and create sub-properties for more specific types, for example, "hasResolutionMeasurementCapability"?
• Luis says we continue with current "object-property" approach but suggests we define the MeasurementCapability class hierarchy in a different ontology.
• How to leverage the observation ontologies in this case?
