MMI Ontology Registry and Repository (ORR)

Significant changes have been made to address outstanding issues 177 and 99 related with re-hosting options and normalization of concepts (short-name, acronym, resource type). Usability was substantially improved. New wizard-based UI components were created for the registration of external ontologies. APIs to access the ORR are being used (and tuned) to develop a SensorML generator tool, initially intended to be part of the IEEE 1451/SWE MARTECH demonstration in November. The goal of this tool is to facilitate the creation of a SensorML document with the basic definition of a sensor system (system type, variables, subsystems) out from a set of fields provided by the user in a web-based graphical user interface and with integration of vocabulary terms and definitions from the ORR. 

The paper "The MMI Ontology Registry and Repository: A Portal for Marine Metadata Interoperability" was presented at the Oceans MTS/IEEE 2009 conference in Biloxi, MS.
