Metadata Specification for Environmental Images

This is the first draft of the Metadata Specification for Environmental Images, written by Lonny Lundsten, John Graybeal, and Karen Stocks. The Metadata Specification for Environmental Images is an XMP based model utilizing existing schemas and schema definitions for standard fields (e.g. EXIF for camera/GPS info, IPTC4XML for Creator/Content, etc.). The Metadata Specification for Environmental Images also includes a custom XMP block, which allows for the entry of marine research specific fields such as CTD data, biological observations, and geological observations, for example. It is currently open for comment.
