Schedule

Tuesday, August 9, 2005 at 8 AM, through Thursday August 11, 2005 at 12 noon.

Steering Committee members are asked to remain for a Steering Committee meeting from 1 PM to 3 PM on Thursday.

Location

The workshop will be held at UCAR (home page) (map) (the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research) in Boulder, Colorado. The meetings will be in Building CG1 of the Center Green campus (3080 Center Green Drive).

The bus from the hotel will drop you at the meeting site each day, and take you back in the evening (see below). The workshop is approximately 1.5 miles from the hotel (very cool map), so you may walk if you prefer.

Meet in the auditorium of Building CG1. Breakouts will be in rooms on the second and third floors. Maps of auditorium, second floor, and third floor.

Transportation

Car rental should not be necessary if you are coming solely for the workshop, as we will provide the necessary transportation arrangements.

Air transportation is to the Denver International Airport. Ground transportation from DIA to the hotel in downtown Boulder requires about 45 minutes. Shuttle buses (Boulder Super Shuttle) are available from the airport; you will be mailed logistical information with further details by August 5.

For the return trip to the airport, we have scheduled a large shuttle at 12:30 PM on Thursday (and a smaller pickup at 3:30 PM). It is recommended you arrange your departure for no earlier than 3 PM on Thursday, to allow for travel, check-in, and security time.

Shuttles to the workshop each day will leave at 7:45 AM from the hotel. Return shuttles will depart at the end of each day's activities (see the agenda).

Reimbursement

Please confirm your reimbursement status before making any confirmed travel arrangements.

We ask that reimbursed participants, if at all possible, take advantage of the services provided and described above. This will minimize your need to file reimbursement receipts, and our need to process them. (In fact, you may not have to file any receipts or reimbursement claims at all!)

Details of filing reimbursement claims will be provided at the workshop.

Internet Access and Computers

We encourage all participants to bring internet-capable (ideally, wireless-capable) laptop computers to the workshop. These will be useful to coordinate work during the breakout sessions.

We intend to have internet access available at the workshop.

Registration

Registration requests are no longer accepted, except by arrangement with the workshop organizers. Email info@marinemetadata.org for more information.

General information about the workshop will be mailed to the workshop05-news marinemetadata.org mail list -- you may sign up for this list at http://marinemetadata.org/mailman/listinfo/workshop05-news. All registrants will be automatically signed up.

Hotel

The primary hotel is the Best Western Golden Buff Lodge, about 1.5 miles from the campus.

Meals

Meals will be provided to all workshop participants. Lunches will be provided at the workshop. A 'heavy continental breakfast' is served at the hotel. We will have a catered group dinner at the meeting site Tuesday night, and will have one or more groups organized at local restaurants Wednesday night, if you wish to join us; otherwise, your dinner will be on your own.

It is the understanding of the workshop organizers that NOAA participants may take part in the group meals (hosted by MMI), if they do not charge per diem for that part of their trip. You should confirm this arrangement with your organization.
